What’s the Problem?
This recall affects 14 ounce packages of Peekaboo branded Mint Chocolate Chip with Hidden Spinach Ice Cream, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) .
The recalled ice cream was sold at Target stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. Affected products were packaged in a 14 ounce, printed paper container with UPC# 8685400001, with a Best Before date of 10/08/2022 printed on the bottom.
The problem was discovered after routine testing by Ramar Foods revealed the presence of Listeria in certain samples of the ice cream. Production of the ice cream has been suspended pending the results of an investigation into the source of the contamination.
If you purchased any Peekaboo Ice Cream that is affected by this recall, you should not eat it, and either discard it immediately or return it to the point of purchase for a refund. Anyone concerned about a potential listeria infection should consult their physician. This recall began on May 14, 2020.
